Understanding the nephrotoxic consequences of prescribing antibiotics is critical for physicians. Chris takes listeners through a prospective evaluation of the risk of acute kidney injury with the combination of pip-tazo and vancomycin verus the combination of cefepime or meropenem and vancomycin.
Next, Kieran takes listeners through a randomized controlled trial comparing migraine management with prochlorperazine and diphenhydramine versus hydromorphone. Although non-opioid strategies have been demonstrated to be effective for pain management in different settings, until this trial there has been a lack of high quality evidence to suggest against the use of opioids for the treatment of migraine.
Finally, the Good Stuff segment. Chris covers an article on bactericidal versus bacteriostatic antibiotics. Kieran shares an article on performance enhancement with caffeine.
