Paxton Bach and Kieran Quinn are back this week on The Rounds Table covering two articles: changes in end-of-life care in the United States over the past 15 years and energy restricted diets for type 2 diabetes mellitus management.

Modern end-of-life care has dramatically changed the number of patients that pass away in an acute care setting.  Kieran reviews changes to end-of-life care in the United States over the span of 15 years for Medicare patients.  He covers the differences over time in various metrics including site of death, hospice use, hospitalizations and health care transitions in the last few months of life.

Patients often ask about the effect of diet on glycemic control and overall diabetes management. Paxton takes listeners through an article that compares intermittent energy restricted diets and continuous energy restricted diets for type 2 diabetes mellitus control.

Finally, the Good Stuff segment.  Kieran discusses a commentary on antibiotic-prescribing patterns in urgent care and retail clinics.  Paxton walks listeners through a pair of articles on misconceptions about cannabis addiction.
